Offence Related

Michael Bilyk has diverse forensic experience, attained across numerous years working within correctional services and private consultancy. Michael Bilyk has worked extensively with youth and adult offender populations, assessing and treating risk and offence behaviour, including sexual offending. Treatment experience includes clinical and forensic interventions for both males and females, including intellectually disabled and indigenous offenders, aimed at exploring the risk and needs of such individuals and reducing their potential to re-offend.

Michael Bilyk regularly conducts psycho-legal assessments. Michael Bilyk maintains a professional portfolio in the clinical and actuarial assessment of risk, along with observing ongoing close professional relationships within youth and adult correctional services.

Youth

Youth are a demographic often overlooked, and an age group frequently labelled by treating practitioners as too difficult or complex to engage. Indeed adolescence is a period representing transformation, including episodes of uncertainty and unpredictability. Michael Bilyk is highly skilled at engaging young people. Through considerable experience working within Youth Justice settings, Michael Bilyk is particularly skilled in assisting young people demonstrating high risk behaviours.

Emphasis is placed on motivational aspects in working with young people, appreciating that it is not uncommon for youth to be pre-contemplative to difficulties that confront them. Michael Bilyk works closely with young people in exploring emotions, thoughts, behaviours, and considering change.
